So, in actuality I am not really sure how many countries/people around the world celebrate St. Patrick's Day or even how it is celebrated. Here in the United States, it is mostly a fun holiday filled up with the color green, lots of beer (green beer) and a few shamrocks thrown in for luck.

However you celebrate....I do hope you have a good luck charm in your life....whoever or whatever it may be.

Welcome to Sunday-------and another new word from Bird is the Word! Do you believe we are having a snow storm here right now. I am sitting at my computer, looking out my window and watching it snow like crazy! I know many of you are still enjoying the warm, summer temperatures of the southern hemisphere, but winter is back on full force for me. Ah well, spring will be here soon!

Our new word for the week is DISCOVER. I did think it was pretty exciting that both Cathy and Gwen are discovering countries on their layouts. They were both thinking along the same lines! I do love the layouts created by our design team this week...I think I say that every week, but they amaze me and blow me away with their talent each and every week. Our guest designers really did a fabulous job as well. It is truly a joy to work with new and such friendly talent every week.

Sunday, February 12 - New Challenge Word HEART

Our new challenge word for Sunday, February 12 is HEART! Tis the season for Valentine's Day afterall and there are truly red hearts, pink hearts and purple hearts everywhere around here. I am being a bit ethnocentric here, so I have to ask the question....do you (all my friends from around the world) celebrate Valentine's Day like we do here in the United States....candy, flowers, chocolate and expensive dinners? Just curious. Either way....I think we can all find use for the word HEART on a layout.

A player did ask me a question in the comments a week or so back if you can use the word in a foreign language and by all means feel free to do this.

Promise is simply put a powerful word. The majority of us make promises and I believe most of us make them with every intention of keeping them. Hello my fellow bird friends!! We have a new word today!! You will have the next four weeks to create a project using the word JOURNEY. As always, you are welcome to use the word as a title or in the journaling of your project. The word JOURNEY really made me think when I created a layout for it. I love the word because it holds so many possibilities, but it did challenge me to think a little deeper when I used it on a layout. New Challenge Word - REMEMBER

Wow, today went by fast for me. We have a long holiday weekend here, which means an extra day off of work for me! My little boy and I drove a long distance to visit my family for a few days! We are having a great time and the day just flew by yesterday.

So, I better get to it. Our new challenge word for today is REMEMBER. Our design team turned in some wonderful designs this week! Take a look.

TIME Challenge Winners and a Surprise Announcement!

The holidays have come and gone...whew. I am always a little sad to see them go, but I look forward to the fresh start of a new year. -A clean slate for all of us. I know resolutions are made and broken, but I love the optimism that this time of year brings.

I am not trying to make this sound to "corny" but we have some exciting changes at Bird is the Word too! We are currently evolving a little, so please be patient with us as we work out a few kinks in our back office, but I think the changes will be fun and positive!

We are now going to have guest designers!! I think this will be a super fun opportunity for all of us to meet some new people and get some fresh ideas.......so, our first two winners (by way of DT voting) of the challenges will get to be a guest designer for a word to be announced one month from now....this means the guest designers will get one month to work on their layouts or projects. We are also going to have a random guest designer position as well. I will randomly choose a winner from the ended challenge to be a guest designer too!! Being a guest designer is optional and is not a requirement, so if you do not have time or do not wish to participate, feel free to say no. Ok, what this means is that Heather Jacob, Erin and ClaireBear (randomly chosen as number 38) will get to be our guest designers next month for a word to be released on February 12.

January 1, 2012 - New Challenge Word - PROMISE

I just cannot start out a post on January 1st without saying Happy New Year. I do hope you all had a wonderful season and I wish you the best of luck with your New Year's Resolutions!!

It has been a year since BITW began...I can hardly believe it! This year has completely flown by!! Our very first word was introduced last year on January 2nd and was the word Believe...I think we had 12 followers to start out with and I am sure most of those followers were design team members! :) So, BITW has grown tremendously and it has been lots and lots of fun!! Thank you for following us along the way and playing along in our challenges!!

Our new word being introduced today is PROMISE. The promise of a new year to come!!...or however you want to use the word! I think you will see this is a very versatile word as you view the DT layouts.

Welcome to Sunday my fellow Bird is the Word friends!! Two more weeks until Christmas! Are you all ready? I have presents to wrap and presents to buy yet, but in truth I am almost done. I took Christmas photos of my little boy yesterday and today. It was so much fun, but a huge challenge to get just the right shot --- with good lighting and a perfectly cute smile.

I hope you are all having a wonderful weekend. Mine went by way too fast. I am going to finish up this blog post and take a long, hot bath....and then go to bed to hopefully be rested up for a busy work week.

It was a busy weekend for me as I am sure it was for many of you. I just came home from a visit with my mom and dad. Believe it or not, we had a snow storm on Saturday and I drove three hours in the snow and ice! It was pretty hectic and stressful. I witnessed one car spinning circles on the road and landing in the ditch. So, although I had a wonderful weekend, I am happy to be home and warm.

It is Sunday and Sunday means it is time for a new Bird the Word challenge. Our new word to be announced is TRUST. As I looked over the entries from the design team, I was quite honestly surprised at the many different directions this word was able to be used on our layouts.

I am posting this a bit earlier than usual today.....I am on my way to visit some friends for a Twilight movie marathon. The new movie is coming out soon, so we figured we should catch up on the old movies beforehand. We will have lots of food (mostly junk food) and drinks (diet coke).

As I am sure you noticed in the title of this post, our new challenge word is ADORE! The word ADORE should be adaptable (I think) in many different ways. Your pages could feature your children, grandparents, parents...even your animals/pets.
